Fly Fish Some Great Mackerel

October 3, 2007 |

One nice species to fly fish is the mackerel. The Spanish species is very delicious, and grows an average of 2 to 3 pounds.

You may try catching some great mackerel fish with lures made of metal. This is imperative because of the mackerel’s rather sharp teeth. While it can be an easy catch, still it can present an exciting challenge to the fly fisherman.

The Spanish mackerel species love their company so they usually swim in schools, in search or trailing whatever group of bait which they normally eat upon.

You can go for some great fly fishing adventure for mackerel along the beach, or perhaps on the pier. Definitely there is also great chance that you can fish them on bays as well as the water canals. Actually, just along the Eastern Coast as well as the Gulf, the mackerel are abundant and just so easy to catch.

Indeed, the best, easiest and most exciting time to catch the mackerel is when they are having their feeding session. Usually they are in a large group having caught up on a school of baitfish and feeding on them in a voracious manner.
