Tried Giving Fly Fishing Items as Christmas Treats?
December 19, 2007 |
It is Christmas once again, a time for giving and receiving and a perfect time for you to give your fly fishing buddies some great fishing presents this Yuletide season. However, you might be a loss on what to be the perfect gift for someone, unless of course you will ask the person what fishing item he wants to receive.
Fly fishing presents for the person enthusiastic in the sport will certainly send him to the heavens in happiness, much like the joy a small boy will experience when he receives a brand new bike. But there are many great choices which you might have to pick from so it definitely is not easy to assign the right fishing gift for every angler friends you know.

In my case, top of my list of great fly fishing presents is the fly fishing rod. The ultimate gift if you have the money to spend for a friend this Holiday Season. Although the problem with rods is that you probably have to give out the excellent quality rods, since every angler you know might already own best one for himself. He definitely will not part with his old rod if what you will give as gift is an inferior one. Of course, it’s the thought that counts and your gesture will very much be appreciated, but then you don’t want your gift to be forever kept in your friend’s closet do you?
Fly fishing accessories is definitely a treat for anglers. Many own only the basics – the rod, reels and lines – and don’t spend much for accessories. If you have a fisher friend who might need sunglasses, or an extra pair of wading pants, landing net, or even a headlamp, then do not hesitate to give them this type of fly fishing items for presents.
If you do have a limited budget, you might want to give away inexpensive fly boxes of wood or aluminum materials. They would be a delight because of their use mainly for keeping safely our flies and lures (Do not forget to dry away first your flies before tucking them away okay?).
Fishing items are definitely cool gifts you can give this Yuletide season. Whether the person who will receive is a veteran angler or a newbie in the sport, a nice shiny graphite or fiberglass rod, or even a simple fly tying kit will be appreciated.
