April 19, 2008 |
If lots of people go to Hong Kong just to shop, certainly there are also some who do to this Chinese territory if only to enjoy some great fly fishing trip. Indeed, if you are on an Asian fishing vacation, you should never go back home without trying some fishing stop in the Hong Kong waters.

Did you know that this Asian paradise has been known as a fishing port for fishermen and angling veterans? The place might be very popular as a shopping and tourist destination, but if there is a nice fact about it, is that it is a city that offers excellent fishing adventures.
Hong Kong is pretty much surrounded by waters, and since the seas and the ports and harbors are very much accessible, you will discover that finding a fishing spot is never going to be a problem here. Harbors such as the Kwun tong, HK Island or even the world-renowned Kowloon are very conducive places to hold your fly fishing sessions.
Saltwater fly fishing is very much a common activity around the island. Particularly, the waters of the Sai Kung peninsula is a great angling spot for both the locals and the tourist fishers. If you want the provincial feel of a fishing village, then this peninsula certainly offers it. However, fishing charters are also readily available when desired.
Freshwater fishing can also be enjoyed in the island, by way of the reservoirs that are populated by the Tilapia and the Carp. Water reservoirs are literally teeming with these great fish species, all just waiting to be fished. Albeit, freshwater fishing in HK can take some time as tourists are required to get fishing license in order to be allowed to fish the fresh waters.
