Lake Fly fishing: Dry and Wet Flies

Techniques on lake fly fishing have some similarities to most other fly fishing techniques except of course, lakes have no currents that you have to deal with. In lake waters, the fish tend to be more relentless in their search for their food and so they try to take in anything that resembles food.
What if you use some dry flies for lake fly fishing?
If you are going to do some fly fishing on the lake, you have to fish deep. This is because your prospective catch will hardly have the energy to go up to the surface to take in whatever food that’s present there. A large hatch can attract a big fish to come up swimming from the deep of the lake, but then most of the time small fish are what you would have to contend with when you want to use dry fly fishing flies on lake waters.
Lake fishing with wet flies

If fish use up more energy than what he takes in when in search of its food, then his survival is doomed for sure. Therefore you must know how a particular type of fish behaves on certain waters, the depths on which it stays. This helps you determine where to place your hook down deep into the waters. Since you want to catch big fish, you need to know where exactly they are holding and get your fishing hook down there.
The obvious advantage of using wet flies on lake fly fishing is that you can vary the depth of your hook and be able to retrieve until you discover the right combination that your trophy fish will not be able to resist. Always be on the lookup on your fishing line as the take is often subtle.
Likewise, a sinking tip or line is a definitely advantage for those who pursue fishing in a lake as you are afforded more success for a great catch once you get the fish near the fish.
